Plenty of space to cool down, chill out, or keep fit using our lap lane or attending a Water Aerobics or Aqua Zumba class. If relaxing under the covered porch while reading a book and enjoying the breeze of the fans is more your style, you’ll have that too! Coming soon – our second pool will be heated so that we can extend all of the fun water activities year-round!
5 Pickleball Courts
We wouldn’t think of designing a 55 community without pickleball. Because if you’ve never played it, we know you’ll love it! A hybrid of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, Pickleball is played on a court a quarter of the size of a tennis court. Using a hard racket and a variation of a whiffle ball, Pickleball has become the hottest new sport in Active Adult communities. It’s simple to learn; yet as you progress it can become quite competitive requiring quick reactions as players trade rapid-fire shots at the net. We offer groups of all skill levels beginning at our “cucumber” league, for those just getting started, to our very competitive league.
Taking advantage of the North Carolina climate means getting out on the tennis court most days of the year. As a 55 retirement community, we know that tennis is a favorite way to stay active among residents. The Classic Clay Synthetic surface on our tennis court is the best money can buy! The surface is filled with sand to minimize the impact on the back, knees, ankles, and feet so you will have many more years of active play. Lessons or refresher courses are available upon request.
Croquet in Carolina – it just sounds like the perfect match. And at Bailey’s Glen retirement community, it’s just one more way to stay active. The spirit of this English game has been slowed down to a Southern pace as our court is surrounded with porch swings and Adirondack chairs – offering another beautiful spot to congregate with friends.
Bocce is the signature game of our retirement community. This popular Italian pastime is definitely a Bailey’s Glen favorite. We offer three gorgeous courts and a shady spacious gazebo area to gather for some casual fun. Play on your own or join the weekly league for competitive play!
Putting Green/Golf Cage
You can’t be considered a top retirement community in North Carolina if you don’t offer a way to keep folks’ golf game sharp. Our putting green and golf cage will keep your skills tuned up. A great advantage for you as you venture out to our many nearby golf courses!
Weekly game nights and game days are a fun time for residents to enjoy games like Bunco, Mexican Train, Bridge, Poker and Mah Jong and more. We have a vast collection of books available for borrowing. Bring a book, take a book, and find a comfortable spot on the sofa to relax and read.

Outdoor Grill Area
This great grilling space is yours to use anytime! Many social groups gather here in the warm afternoon sun to grill, gather and share a meal together. This large grill gives us the opportunity to host large community cookouts on holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Fully irrigated garden plots are available for you to grow your own bounty right here in the retirement community. We’ve hosted speakers from local home improvement stores to educate residents, and when neighbors help neighbors it’s a fun Garden Club experience.
As an active adult community, we say that retirement doesn’t mean you’re ready to slow down. At Bailey’s Glen we are always ready to go! Outings include apple picking, craft shows, theatre, go cart racing, golf trips, wine tasting, and trips to learn more about our local community. The Carolinas are yours to embrace!
Along with being an active adult community, Bailey’s Glen is also quite the creative adult community. Quilting, scarf making, painting, card making, beadwork, and monogramming classes with our commercial embroidery machine, are just some of the organized classes offered. Of course, this is your clubhouse – come anytime to have a fantastic space to create your favorite works of art!
7 Pocket Parks
This 55 community enables you to enjoy the unequaled outdoor environment that North Carolina offers. These small community parks are lovely gathering points throughout the community. Water features, gazebos, swings, chess, checkers, and horseshoes make these fun places to meet with friends.

Beautiful Lake Norman is sometimes referred to as the “inland sea” of North Carolina; it offers 520 miles of shoreline and a surface area of more than 306 square miles. The lake boasts two bank fishing areas and eight public boating access areas along the shoreline.
Four Mild Seasons
For an active retirement community, the weather simply doesn’t get any better than this. The Lake Norman/Charlotte area offers a mild, four-season climate. July, our warmest month, offers beautiful sunny days and a daytime average temperature of about 88 degrees – perfect weather for swimming and boating. As a matter of fact, we will give you 214 days of sunshine per year! Our autumn season is extremely enjoyable with beautiful fall colors and mild temperatures in the 60s and 70s. No more snow shovels or heavy winter coats – January, our coldest month with an average daytime temperature of 49 degrees! Rain? Not bad at only about 43 inches per year! That’s just enough to create a beautiful, lush landscape. It’s an ideal climate for a 55 retirement community.
Coming soon! It will be a split park, half for bigger dogs, half for your little ones.
